Food safety, quality and the safety of our people & livestock are things we do not compromise on.
We have stringent systems, standards and processes in place that enable us to provide Australians with quality poultry products they can trust.

Food Safety

In Australia chicken consumption has doubled over the past 30 years. As one of Australia’s leading poultry suppliers, we recognise the importance of food safety and quality across our end-to-end supply chain.

Our quality exceeds food safety and quality certification standards and accreditations – including compliance with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and SQF Food Safety certifications.

Animal Welfare

As an industry leader in animal welfare, we recognise our responsibility to promote the best welfare outcomes for all of our livestock, the community and our customers. We are proud to uphold the highest Australian industry standards and verification certifications.

Each year our facilities are externally audited by both Free Range Eggs and Poultry Australia (FREPA) and RSPCA.

We hold ourselves to the highest standard and as such conduct our own audits over and above independent review to ensure we’re promoting positive welfare outcomes. In the past 12 months, we have had 275 external evaluations, and conducted 440 internal audits to ensure we are delivering on our values around animal welfare.

Safety

BSafe Work Health and Safety (WHS) System, is our commitment to prioritise the safety, wellbeing, and professional growth of our team. Our BSafe WHS strategy for 2023-2028 is designed with a focus on driving improved outcomes for our employees and has already shown promising results.

An extensive training program comprising over 50 modules across seven vital categories has been rolled out to our staff. These modules cover essential aspects such as commitment and communication, emergency preparedness, selection, induction, and training among others.

Bsafe WHS System is a comprehensive approach to ensure that our employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate various safety scenarios – effectively.

Halal

We live in a multicultural society and serve the needs of a range of different customs and traditions. Which is why we are one of Australia’s Halal certified poultry producers as determined by the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils.

The processing of chickens is not impacted by Halal certification. All processing complies with the current Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals: Livestock at Slaughtering Establishments.

Our halal range incorporates a variety of standard fresh and frozen poultry, including whole chickens, chicken pieces, and breast and thigh fillet. We also produce an extensive range of processed halal products.

Please see the Steggles or Lilydale websites for more information about specific products.
