Feedmilling
Our chickens are fed a diet that has been specified by our company nutritionist. A company owned and operated feedmill is located in the Tamworth district of New South Wales.
Various components make up the feed including cereal grains like wheat, oats, barley and sorghum; protein meals, such as soyabean meal, together with vitamins and minerals. Although the majority of our raw materials are sourced locally, some of our ingredients come from as far afield as Europe, the USA and Brazil.
Our total requirement for feed at all the company locations throughout Australia is approaching half a million tonnes per year.
Interesting Facts
An average meat chicken will eat 5kgs of feed in its lifetime, which is approximately 42 days. Contrary to a widespread misconception, hormones are not used to enhance the growth rate in chickens.
